If you're going to discuss the APR on an upcoming Inside PR, may I humbly request that you also add IABC's ABC accreditation to the discussion, as well? If you need a guest who can address it, Annette Martel, ABC, is in Toronto, is accredited, and is a former IABC chair.

Hi Terry, Dave, Martin and I know she's not here anymore, but I enjoyed listening to Julie all last year so I'm still not used to her being absent yet.

Lots of great PR discussions here so I appreciate the time and dedication you all put into this (transcribers and editors included) and one issue I don't think I've listened to yet concerns this particular issue: How do you three feel about the role financial understanding plays - whether it should or does play any role and/or how important is it? - in public relations.

I know there must be excellent PR people out there for argument's sake who (a) don't have formal PR education and/or (b) aren't good with numbers but in general, I feel that PR people are regarded as having a lack of financial acumen. I think if finance was a requisite course in PR curriculum, the PR profession would be better regarded for one and the education surrounding PR would climb to higher standards.

I wrote a bit more on my blog (Feb 4) if you want to know more about where my question stems from but that posting is more my response to a response and about PR roles in organizations where financial understanding (or lack of) might play a factor.

Thank you.
