  1. I have to admit that I didn’t get the chance to listen to the whole show but it was interesting to hear what you were talking about four years ago since I am newer listener to the show.

I was really interested to hear about the idea of boosting PR/Comm profile in business schools because I completed an MBA (specialized in marketing and business strategy) at UBC about a year ago and there wasn’t much emphasis on PR or Communications in my program.

We had a lively demonstration one day about dealing with the media in a crisis and there was lots of great learnings from that, but not much else. I did the classic business plan project at one point and used PR as a huge part of my overall marketing/communications strategy but felt that it didn’t receive the attention it deserved.

Afterall, I didn’t see a single mention of anything related to PR in any other presentations I saw. Everyone else seemed to choose to outline a strategy that only spoke about marketing communications.

Now that I have re-approached the workplace with a fresh, higher level understanding of marketing and business strategy in general, I can’t help but notice how the lack of PR/Comm discussion in the program is definently a weakness, as I’m sure it is for most schools.

Do you think anything has changed in the last 4 years? Why or why not?
