There are, after all, only 12 more Fridays until Christmas (as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/buddytheellf\" target=\"_blank\">Buddy the Elf<\/a> likes to remind us).<\/p>\n<p>Before we get to the topic of the day (networking and &#8220;can I pick your brain?&#8221;), let&#8217;s talk #IPRMustKnow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Martin talks about <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/news\/2015\/09\/updates-for-facebook-notes\/\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook Notes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Joe talks about Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twittercommunity.com\/t\/a-new-design-for-tweet-and-follow-buttons\/52791\" target=\"_blank\">taking away share numbers<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Gini (me, myself, and I) talks about the <a href=\"http:\/\/venturebeat.com\/2015\/09\/24\/twitter-confirms-its-experimenting-with-native-polls-in-tweets\/\" target=\"_blank\">ability to tweet polls<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And now, the topic of the day: Networking leeches.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of weeks ago, the\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em> ran an article titled, \u201c<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/09\/27\/jobs\/how-not-to-be-a-networking-leech-tips-for-seeking-professional-advice.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\">How Not to Be a Networking Leech: Tips for Seeking Professional Advice<\/a><\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It gave better advice than, &#8220;Stop asking me to pick my brain!&#8221;, which tends to be the reaction from nearly every professional services provider in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Some of our favorite tips include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go with a prepared list of questions;<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t argue about their advice or point out why it wouldn\u2019t work for you; and<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t ask for intellectual property or materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Martin also adds his own tip that you&#8217;ll be sure to want to hear.
