  1. There’s a little problem with your math in the cloud computing discussion. Storing your files online won’t reduce the number of disks needed to store them; the only way to do that would be to decrease the amount of data people create, and there’s no sign of that happening any time soon. Using cloud storage just moves the disks from your home or office into a data center somewhere, where they’ll probably be duplicated for redundancy.

    It *might* let people consolidate copies of files, assuming they have reliable enough access to the Internet. But if you only have one copy, then you don’t have backups, and by now we should all know how important backups are.
